Some brilliant person made an online version of the beloved board game. If you’re unfamiliar with Codenames, it gives you and your friends the chance to play spy and test your mental connection. “Codenames is a game of guessing which codenames (i.e., words) in a set are related to a hint-word given by another player. Players split into two teams: red and blue. One player of each team is selected as the team’s spymaster; the others are field operatives” (Wikipedia). To play the online version with friends, you start with a zoom/video call then click into the virtual Codenames platform. Everyone logs in using the same unique code. Let the spy games begin!

This party game comes from the makers of Heads Up, so you know it’s gonna be good! “To play, participants make up fake answers to real trivia questions, and one player must choose the real answer among the fakes. There’s even an “And the Truth Comes Out” deck that allows you to do the same thing with personal questions about each other.”(Warner Bros.) Find it in the app store and play it on your next video chat.
This classic game can now go virtual! How do you do it? Hop on a video call. Tell your friends/family to grab a pen and paper. Go around in any order. When it’s someone’s turn to draw, they should generate a word to draw using Pictionary word generator. They should try to draw that prompt while pointing their webcam at the paper. When someone else thinks they know what’s being drawn, they should yell it out! If they guess correctly, they are awarded 5 points. The drawer is awarded 2 points for every prompt they’re able to get people to guess correctly. (Yes this means one of you will have to be “official scorekeeper”). The first player to make it to 50 points wins! For an added challenge, change the difficulty level on the word generator to “medium”, “hard”, or “really hard”.
For an easy and interactive way to play virtual pictionary, try Let’s Draw included in Let’s Roam’s virtual game night.
